This year's SIC was very informative. SIC continues to be a great place to make new contacts with ISVs and to put faces-to-names of existing contacts (previously only known as xxx@xxx.com via email). Bob was one of those new contacts! He is, of course, a huge proponent of blogs, so to 47Hats and Bob, my first blog post.

Bob asked me to summarize the RED service that Protexis was promoting at the conference (one of those 50% missed conference sessions I believe!). To be brief (and trying to not break the rules of blogging) I am writing as I speak and hopefully not relaying to much sale's speak or marketing talk.

RED is an acronym for Retail Electronic Distribution and it is NEW! Protexis has built a distribution platform that provides value to both publishers/developers and online retailers. Publishers are provided with access to new and large distribution channels for their downloadable software products. Retailers gain an immediate catalog of digital inventory that they sell through their sophisticated eStores. RED provides an upload manager for publishers; facilitates the download for the retailer and at the end of the day (and most importantly), pays the publishers for sales made through these online retail channels.

Of course, there is more information available. Bob, I hope that helps. Best regards!

Thanks for the nice summary of SIC, and also for the kind words about my presentation. It was great to meet you there!

BTW, I agree with Martin - having the full text in your RSS feed would be much better.

Quick note: In Thunderbird's RSS reader, your blog posts are coming through with supersized text, which renders it almost unreadable.
