The MicroISV Digest for the week ending September 8th, 2008.
(If you’re announcing the public debut of a microISV, startup or have other news to share, please email me at bob.walsh@47hats.com with the word digest in the subject.)
News and Announcements
- Starr Horne (ChatSpring Live Chat) has branched out and started a how-to blog about the business of software: Jolt Magazine. More than a few microISVs have heeded the call: Jason Abate, Jon Chase, Benjamin Curtis, Chris Exline, Paul Farnell, Starr Horne, Floyd Price and I (via BOS)
- Keith Alperin has kicked off a public beta of the 2.0 version of MercuryMover and dropped the price 20% on the current version of this Mac utility. (via email)
- FairSoftware.net announced today at TechCrunch50 its new software startup service. In a nutshell, FairSoftware.net offers a way to setup a startup or microISV, divvy shares (money and decision making) up between founders, offer shares to new hires and contractors and essentially do everything an actual startup corporation would do. Very, very interesting.
Relevant Blog Posts, Videos and Articles
- Starr Horne posted at Jolt Magazine Watch & Learn: Videos to grow your business a post of five really good videos by Erik Sink, Joel Spolsky, Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki and ZeFrank.
- Jun Loayza and friends are Living the Startup Life over on YouTube. Interesting watching.
- “Dashboards” pointed out a good resource for coming up with a name for your microISV, startup or product: The Igor Naming Guide (via BOS)
